What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a valuable therapeutic approach that can support individuals in achieving personal growth, positive change and emotional well-being.

By harnessing the power of the subconscious (the part of our mind that operates below the level of conscious awareness and controls many aspects of our thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and behaviours) hypnotherapy offers a versatile and holistic approach to address a wide range of issues. It is a gentle, safe and powerful tool to facilitate change, utilising the natural power of the mind to relieve symptoms, alter unwanted behaviour patterns and enhance overall quality of life.

During a hypnotherapy session, the hypnotherapist guides the client into a state of deep relaxation and focused attention, often referred to as a hypnotic trance. In this state, the conscious mind becomes more relaxed and passive, allowing the hypnotherapist to bypass the critical faculty and directly communicate with the subconscious. Through positive suggestions and imagery, the therapist helps the individual explore and reframe their thoughts, emotions and behaviours.

The subconscious mind is highly receptive to suggestion and imagery, and it plays a crucial role in shaping our perceptions and behaviours. It holds our long-term memories, emotions, habits, and automatic responses, by accessing the subconscious through hypnosis, individuals can explore and address deep-rooted issues, beliefs, and traumas that may be contributing to their challenges or limitations in life.

The subconscious is often compared to an iceberg, with the conscious mind representing the tip that is visible above the waterline, while the vast majority lies beneath the surface. It is believed that many of our behaviours and experiences are influenced by subconscious programming that we may not even be consciously aware of. These subconscious patterns can be formed through early childhood experiences, societal conditioning, and repeated thoughts or behaviours.
